Dr Don Pek
Dr Don Pek is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist with more than 15 years experience in refractive cataract surgery, complex cataracts and anterior segment reconstruction. He is passionate in delivering cost-effective cataract surgery in underprivileged populations.
Dr Pek completed his general ophthalmology training in Singapore and Edinburgh, UK and a specialised clinical fellowship in Canada for Anterior Segment and Cataract Speciality. He has performed over 5000 cataract surgeries, advises for trial and selection of new intraocular lenses in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), highly experienced in the implantation of multifocal and astigmatism correcting lenses, post-LASIK lens calculations and the surgical management of post-op cataract complications.
He ensures service excellence through his directorship of Ang Mo Kio Specialists Centre (Ophthalmology) and his leadership of The Eye Pre-Anaesthetic Counselling and Evaluation (PACE) department in TTSH.
In his free time, he is a consultant surgeon for global clinic (www.global-clinic.org) providing cataract surgeries to countries such as India, Cambodia, Philippines and Myanmar. To recognise his humanitarian work, Dr Don Pek was awarded the Healthcare Humanities Award 2011 The Courage Fund, National Healthcare Group (NHG), from the late president Nathan in the Istana.
