Dr Clarissa Cheng

Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist

Dr Clarissa Cheng is a senior consultant ophthalmologist with more than 15 years of experience in General Ophthalmology, Vitreoretinal (VR) disorders and Medical Retinal diseases. She was a recipient of the Gold Medal award for the MOH specialist board examinations, and went on to complete a sub-specialty fellowship at the world renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 2018.

She specialises in cataracts and complex retinal surgeries including 27-gauge vitrectomy and scleral buckling for retinal detachments, macular hole, epiretinal membrane surgeries, and scleral fixation of intraocular lenses. Her other expertise includes the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vascular disorders and retinal detachments.

Dr Cheng was formerly a consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital where she served as Deputy Head of the Eye-PACE clinic and Lead Clinician for the Nurse-Led Intravitreal Injection service.

She was also a visiting consultant to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and a pioneering member of the advisory board at Woodlands Health. Dr Cheng’s other areas of interest include education of the next generation of doctors. She was awarded the Top Teacher award as a registrar in 2014 and is a clinical lecturer and content expert to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS), Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), and Singapore Polytechnic.
